Abstract: The creation of membranes with small pore size and high flux offers a challenge. However, fouling of the membrane is usually the greatest detriment to its use. Starting with an understanding of the synthesis and properties of a class of oxide nano particle we have created membranes that allow for trapping of viruses from aspirated water and separation of oil and water of the energy industry. A summary of our research progress from basic science to field trials will be discussed.
