2014 CEINT Internal Meeting, Huge Success

The 2014 CEINT Internal Meeting was held at Duke University May 22 - 23, 2014 and was a huge success. In attendance were more than 100 CEINT participants representing each of our 7 partnering institution as well as our international collaborators at the CEREGE in France. Over the course of the 2-day meeting, talks were given by participating faculty, post-docs and students to share and disseminate research efforts among members in the areas of:

• Data Integration
• Characterizing releases, exposure potential, and life cycle considerations of engineered nanomaterials
• Nanomaterial bioassociation oand bioaccululation
• Cellular and organismal responses to engineered nanomaterials

Since the inception of the CEINT student steering committee (CSSC) in Fall 2103, this 6 person committee has shown invaluable leadership by organizing the first student lead portion of a CEINT annual meeting. The CSSC also organized a t-shirt completion that revealed a number of artistic CEINT students and post-docs. The winner of this competition was Amy Dale from CMU.

The student and post-doc portion of the annual meeting was kicked off with an ice-breaker aimed to encourage networking, speed networking. Students and post-docs engaged in a series of 2-minute conversations to determine whether there was a mutual research interest.

Breakout sessions where held specific to interest from the CEINT students and post-doc community on topics like, how can CEINT help me, instrumentation hunting, and reporting requirements for nanomaterial research.

Finally a panel discussion on career development was held where CEINT students and post-docs could ask questions about career development and next steps to a panel at many different stages in their careers.
