Imogolite: a possible model nanoparticle for nanotoxicity. Synthesis, characterization, formation mechanism and preliminary nanotoxicity studies

Dr. Antoine Thill, Ph.D. is a scientist at the Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire sur l’Organisation Nanométrique et Supramoléculaire (LIONS) in the Department of Materials Science of the Commissariat de l’Energie Atomique in Saclay (Paris). He obtained his Engineering degree in Geosciences from the Lorraine National Polytechnic Institute (France). He received his PhD in Geosciences from the University of Paul Cézanne, Aix-Mareille where he studied the aggregation of natural suspended matter in estuaries and developed methods to characterize particle size and agglomeration states by light scattering and confocal microscopy. His present field of interest comprises the investigation of the synthesis, structure and dynamics of nanoparticles in complex systems using X-ray based scattering and spectroscopic techniques. He is involved in French research programs considering the impact of nanoparticles (mostly CeO2) on the environment since 2002.
